Spray Foam

When we opened the living room walls to fix the termite damage, we found yet another problem: woefully inadequate insulation. Now that’s fixed – we just put in high-quality spray foam insulation. Check it out:

How cool is that? I love seeing what goes on behind the walls.

They’re Here!

Well, at least something‘s running efficiently here. The kitchen sinks, faucets, and soap dispensers arrived today!

I couldn’t believe it when the delivery guy brought them. I just got my shipping notification a couple of days ago! Thanks Quality Bath for lightning-fast shipping.

I haven’t unpacked them yet; they were delivered to our current apartment so that I would be able to sign for them. I don’t want to open them and risk damage when I move them to the new house. I will post pictures when I do get around to unpacking them.

Movin’ Right Along…

We’re finally getting somewhere and it’s starting to feel like we’re getting unstuck! Our gas line was installed today:

Now the heating and cooling guy is installing our new (energy-efficient) boiler. Once that’s in we can get it inspected and hook up the gas! Good-bye smelly, expensive oil heat.

Our new kitchen cabinets arrived today. I’ll be going over later to make sure they’re the right color this time… I can’t wait until it’s finally done. This renovation is starting to get to me!

I will post updated pictures as soon as I have them!

Back in Business

Hi everyone, sorry for the long time without posting! Things were at a standstill with the house for the last few weeks – the termite damage needed fixing, the kitchen cabinets came in but they’re the wrong color, we had to decide on a countertop (which we did! more on that soon), and we couldn’t get the gas line hooked up due to the frigid weather (so the HVAC guy couldn’t do his work, so we couldn’t close up the ceilings, so we couldn’t install the kitchen even if it was the right color… it snowballs).

But now we had a couple of days of nice weather, and we now have gas! So things are starting to move again.

We’ve decided on kitchen sinks and faucets and just ordered them. We got them from qualitybath.com where Jack was extremely helpful in helping us figure out what we wanted and needed. We chose these:

And we did decide on the Black Forest granite in the end. These are our slabs:

We are so excited. It’s nice to finally be getting somewhere!
